Wall Paper Removal
There was 2 paths I could have taken; the steamer or the goop. I went with the goop. Diff wall paper removal gel. I put down rosin paper to protect the beautiful cork floor at my clients home and it also makes clean up easy at the end. Diff wants you to use the" paper tiger". This perforates the paper allowing the gel to get under the paper. I found from a previous job that this makes tiny holes in the plaster and the removal of the paper tedious because it comes off in tiny chunks. I like to apply the gel with a paint roller and after 15-20 min, I pull off the paper slowly in large sheets. After I have removed as much as possible I re-gel and go after trouble spots with a flexible putty knife. Once all of the top layer of of paper is gone I re-gel the whole work space let it sit for 15-20 then remove the gluey thin layer with the putty knife. Any wall imperfections are smoothed out with joint coumpound ,and then sanded. After painting the walls I rolled up the rosin paper cleaned up and was done.
